About Us
Greg Mangum began building hill country homes with his father in the early 1990’s. The first homes constructed were entry level homes with features not commonly found in the price range. Upgraded kitchens, covered porches, and high efficiency energy packages complimented the early homes. The perception that the home should be built correctly instead of cheaply was a trademark that created client satisfaction and opportunity.
As Mangum Builders expanded, the decision was made to incorporate the use of green construction methods and materials into homes. Many clients were looking for a quality builder to assist them in the analysis of the many “green” product offerings and to construct their homes. Mangum stepped in to fill the need and now finds that they are constructing homes with life spans of over 100 years, and energy efficiency packages that pay for materials upgrades in just a few years. Mangum Builders now regularly uses steel, rainwater collection, and high efficiency heating and cooling systems in the construction of residences. With a growing reputation in the “green” building program and as a steel home builder, clients building lake homes in areas with limited fire protection have begun to seek out Mangum’s experience. The security of building a relatively fire proof structure in areas with limited or no fire protection affords Mangum customers peace of mind when their homes are unattended.
All of the homes featured on this site were designed by Austin’s top tier of architects. Mangum Builders has become recognized as a premiere Austin home builder accomplished in completing demanding design projects with the attention to detail, structural integrity and finish that client’s, architects and interior designers expect.
